Diggins School House —

McHENRY COUNTY HISTORIC PRESERVATION LANDMARK

The Diggins School was built in 1914 and has excellent architectural integrity excepting the bell-tower that was removed. However, the bell still is on the property as is the original merry-go-round, teeter-totter and flagpole.  Its "hooded" front entry sets it off from the average frame school house. Although the school is now being used as a private residence, the original light fixtures, water coolers, desks and chalkboard are still in the interior of the school.
