A snowmobile safety certification is required to operate a snowmobile. A child under 10 cannot operate a snowmobile. Classes are available online and are open to anyone Ages 12 -16 are required to have a certificate to operate a snomobile. Those who have a valid driver's license may operate snowmobiles without the certification but those without a license must complete eight hours of instruction and the final examination to receive the certificate and the legal right to drive a snowmobile.
